Dr. Marongiu, “Dr. Nick”, graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry where he served as President of the Dental Student Association and Chair of the California Dental Association Student Delegation. Following graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at the West Los Angeles Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital and postgraduate training at University of California, Los Angeles, School of Dentistry. During his residency he provided comprehensive dental care to Veterans with emphasis in oral and maxillofacial surgery, implant dentistry and prosthodontics while completing licensure for oral conscious and intravenous conscious sedation to provide anxiety free dentistry to his patients. Dr. Nick maintains hospital privileges at Scripps Memorial hospital and is adjunct faculty at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. He is committed to education and having been involved with years of research during college and graduate school, Dr Nick continues to publish articles in national and international journals every year. He currently serves on several review boards dedicated to providing peer reviewed research and education to the profession and public. He has committed his professional career to achieving the best education available to better serve his patients and has recently achieved the title of ‘Accredited’ by the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry, becoming the one of less than 500 worldwide dentists to achieve this certification. Outside of working with patients at Scripps Center for Dental Care, Dr. Nick is very involved with dental professional associations, where he volunteers his time as a leader to implement policy changes to better serve the profession and public with exceptional oral healthcare. He currently serves an elected position to the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, is a Delegate from the 13th District to the American Dental Association, a Delegate from the San Diego County Dental Society to the California Dental Association, and serves as a Manager to the California Dental Association’s Board of Managers. Dr. Nick is additionally very involved with community service, loaning his expertise and training to Give Back a Smile, Loloma Foundation, Missions of Mercy, Remote Area Medical, USNS Mercy, Flying Docs, Project Hope and several other organizations that provide dental care to underserved communities throughout the world. Dr. John Weston earned his dental degree in 1989, graduating as one of the top five in his class. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York City, Dr. Gold completed his undergraduate studies at Stonybrook University. After spending several winters in Cleveland during residency, Dr. Gold and his family decided they wanted to live in a warmer climate and San Diego’s north county has been a welcomed change. Dr. Gold has been an oral surgeon in San Diego county since 2003. Patient comfort and safety are most important and he makes every effort to accommodate patients and keep their experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible. One of the ways he accomplishes this is by performing in-office general anesthesia, for which he completed education during medical school and residencies in general surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr Gold holds a general anesthesia permit from the Dental Board of California. Dr. Gold is dual degreed and board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and maintains hospital privileges at Scripps Encinitas Hospital. Upon graduation, Dr. Jerome was commissioned in the United States Navy and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and served two years as a dental officer at the Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 7 months to Camp Fallujah. Dr. Jerome then returned to the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and completed a three-year advanced training program in Orthodontics earning his Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He completed his residency in 2002, earning a Master’s degree in Health Sciences from George Washington University, D.C., and his certificate in prosthodontics. Dr. Bosworth is a board certified prosthodontist by the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Bosworth served 12 years in the Navy including an independent sea tour on a US Navy warship, two years in Japan, and two years with the 1st Marines. Dr. Bosworth’s last tour with the Navy was at the world’s largest naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as head of the department, chairman of the implant board, and instructor for the advanced education in general dentistry residency. Dr. Bosworth is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration (the leading dental implant organization worldwide), and the American Dental Association. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Hebrew University, Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, and his Master of Science in Cardiac Physiology from Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem. Dr. Nosrati has served as an associate researcher and consultant to several biotech companies for research involving diabetes, cancer, cardiac diseases, and other serious conditions. Having an extensive medical and research background, Dr. Nosrati, in cooperation with Riley Children’s Hospital and Indiana University School of Dentistry and Medicine, conducted advanced research regarding the connection between heart diseases and periodontal health in children with congenital cardiac diseases. The results of that research earned him a Master of Science degree, and he presented at the American Association of Periodontists meeting in 2012 in Los Angeles, followed by a published article in the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Nosrati is passionate about continued medical education, lecturing nationally and internationally on periodontology, implantology, cardiac physiology, and the cardio-systemic connection. Dr. Nosrati is proficient in all aspects of oral implantology, surgical periodontics, and non-surgical periodontics, including dental implants, tissue grafting for gum recession, pocket reduction, bone augmentation, crown lengthening for short teeth, treatment of a gummy smile, biopsies, and IV dental sedation. In 2007 with over ten years practicing as a Dental Hygienist, Penelope has worked for the prominent firm Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals (OraPharma) as a Hygiene Educator. Her role was to educate and present clinical information on chemotherapeutic agent to Dental Hygiene programs in universities and corporate/private practices. Since her move to Southern California, we have been extremely happy to have her as part of our team. Penelope is also an avid continuing education attendee. She enjoys seeking out methods to improve the comprehensive care she provides to patients by using new and innovative techniques (i.e. Lasers, Chemotherapeutic Agents), products and philosophies. She is a member of The American Dental Hygiene Association and The San Diego County Dental Hygiene Society. She enjoys music, reading, her friends and outdoor activities.
