Dr. Matthew Larsen grew up on a ranch in northern Utah. Prior to dental school, he attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Saskatchewan in 2003. He then began his dental career here in Billings, Montana. Dr. Chase Pearson is a Montana native who grew up on his family farm in Fairfield, Montana. Dr. Pearson cares about his patients, working hard to get to know each person individually. That’s also what has motivated him to become IV sedation certified. No one should have to feel anxious or nervous about going to the dentist, and sometimes dental anxiety can’t be helped. Dr. Pearson understands that dental phobia isn’t personal, but his approach to treating it is. Like Dr. Larsen, he always prioritizes patients and relationships. Dr. Brian Blackwell was born and raised in Billings, MT. After graduating from West High School, he enlisted in the Army as an artilleryman and was deployed to Iraq from 2003 to 2004. After four years of active duty with the Army, Dr. Blackwell joined the Montana Army National Guard while attending Montana State University in Bozeman, MT, where he earned his degree in cell biology and neuroscience. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency through the Air Force at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. There he was able to spend time treating patients and working with dentists in all specialties, including oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and prosthodontics. He then spent three years working as a general dentist at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, WA. While at Fairchild, Dr. Blackwell helped develop and implement the Department of Defense’s new Electronic Health Record, MHS GENESIS. He earned a special designation in Dental Informatics for his work on the project. Dr. Blackwell will be continuing his military service as a general dentist with the Montana Air National Guard out of the Air Force Base in Great Falls. Dr. Blackwell enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is also IV sedation certified. Dr. Blackwell is excited to return to Billings and be closer to the things he loves to do such as skiing, fly-fishing, and hunting. He’s also happy to be close to his parents, who still live here.
