Nisswa Smiles

Dr. Waln hails from the Wadena area of the Lakes Country. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 2003, and has been practicing dentistry since, including a stint in the US Army as a dentist in Afghanistan. When considering his future, he was eager to return to the Lakes area to raise his two children, Zach age 10, and Tori age 7, in a small town environment. He found Nisswa to be the perfect community with a great school and friendly people right in the heart of the Lake...Read Mores where he could indulge in his enjoyment of fishing, hunting and boating. He set to work planning his new practice, setting a goal to achieve the most patient oriented clinic he could imagine. Great detail went into the plan to provide the most comfortable, relaxing, pain-free and health oriented environment for his patients. Having found the perfect location, in a widely recognized, historically significant building on Main Street in downtown Nisswa, he began the work of installing state-of-the-art technology not readily available in nearby communities. Dr. Waln’s goal of offering full services that eliminate the need for referrals and extra appointments became a reality in April 2009 when the Nisswa Smiles – Center for Dental Excellence opened the doors for business. Dr. Waln appreciates the Nisswa community and enjoys his involvement with the American Legion, the Lions and as a Nisswa volunteer firefighter and first responder. Read Less
