Friday I broke a wisdom tooth while at work, and I knew it had to come out. It was only then that I learned that I had not renewed my dental benefits through work for this year. Oops! Lucky for me, Familia allowed me to book an extraction for the next day--a rarity in a COVID-ravaged world! I made my appointment with Elaine Goncalves, and was bolstered by seeing a positive review of her, but still apprehensive. I had my left side removed a few years ago, and I recalled the pain and recovery, som...read moreething I did not look forward to. The staff made me feel at ease and like I was in great hands. Dr. Goncalves came in, checked the x-rays, saw the damage and decided I was right--that tooth had to go! After discussing financials with me (it was so reasonable!), she swabbed me with some strawberry-ish tasting anaesthetic, then gave me some shots in my gums--that stuff tasted nothing like strawberries and was very bitter, but it did the trick--before settling in to work. That tooth, which I was worried about breaking and shattering during extraction, popped out in definitely less than ten minutes, and I think less than five! She showed me the tooth after, and then left me packed with gauze, clutching my after care instructions and ibuprofen, and smiling from ear to ear! Definitely would recommend! read less
