My hygienist was very professional. She was personable and very efficient. Before she did any extra work, e.g. gum measurements, she explained what she was doing and why. She also gave me a brush to help clean my dentures. I had a very pleasant experience.

I’m terrified of the dentist, but my tooth pain got so bad I had no choice. Everyone told me to come here, but I thought it was too good to be true. Now I wish I had gone sooner! They didn’t make me feel embarrassed or judged, just comfortable and cared for. It felt like talking to a friend the whole time. If you’re nervous about the dentist, this is the place to go!

Best dental experience in town!I came to Dr Barker after a series of difficulties establishing care at other clinics in town in the aftermath of COVID. People skim reviews so I will not include the details of that happened at those other places because I don't want someone to think any of those things happened here. But many Athenians have experienced these same difficulties so they understand how important it is to be able to establish care somewhere you can trust. Below is my experience with M...read moreagnolia Dental Spa.I walked in to a very clean, comfortable welcoming waiting room. I was greeted by staff immediately and even offered a beverage of my choice. I chose water and it was nice and chilled. My initial exam was comprehensive. Dr Barker took the time to answer all my many questions and put me at ease. I am a chatty gal in new places and that time in getting me comfortable went a long way in making me feel like I had chosen a good place.This is a family business and I love the level of care that they have put into building this practice. You can tell they take pride in providing an excellent experience. Ms Barker previously worked in Special Ed and just has a wonderful way with making people feel seen.Dr. Barker explained that I needed to whip my gums into shape due to some swelling and bleeding and we made a plan to get me there. He explained the importance of brushing at a 45 degree angle. They got me set up for a cleaning with Ana the following month. I got an estimate of the treatment costs and they explained how the dental club worked. It was a good deal, but I still wasn't quite ready to commit until after I had some work done. I have had some painful work done at another dentist and I hate feeling like I am asking for too much when I express discomfort. I'm a bit slow to trust.I asked about Botox for my gummy smile and we determined I was a good candidate. It was my first time and the price was great! I had one free swear word if I needed it for the pain (I was the last patient of the day, there were no kids around) but I didn't need to use it at all with the support of staff. The results were excellent! This restored some of my confidence in my smile.At my next appointment, Ana cleaned my teeth and missed nothing. She got her start in pediatrics so I imagine if you can clean a moving child, you can clean anyone! I felt like a million bucks!I had one more appointment to get a filling on my rear molar. I came to that appointment irrationally nervous. I have had nothing but a wonderful time so far so why was I nervous? Who knows, but I suspect that I am not used to things going well (which is a me problem) so if I have a good experience I am sometimes irrationally nervous something bad will happen.I opted for laughing gas and it bumped out my appointment time a bit but it was worth it in the end because I felt like I was under a comfy blanket and completely at ease but still very alert. Then came the Novocaine and I had a completely painless filling (not always a guarantee with redheads like me). My jaw wasn't opened too too wide either and I left feeling good. The work feels like my real tooth! Dr. Barker knows what he is doing!I left and opted to go across the street and play pool because I never had laughing gas before and wanted to wait out a bit to see how much it impacted me. I was probably fine to drive, but I figured an afternoon trying to play pool wouldn't hurt anything. Things were uneventful in the aftermath of the laughing gas.Overall this is the best dentist I have ever been to. I will be joining the dental club and look forward to my next cleaning. If anyone wonders if they could have done anything better, the answer is no!It's also really nice to know that some aesthetic skincare is available for those interested. It really is nice to be able to get that at the same place so it's not a trip to a scary dentist, it's an experience that leaves you looking and feeling your best.Go to Magnolia Dental Spa.
