Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Mangini graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. His advanced training has allowed him to lecture to colleagues on topics including dental implants and fixed prosthodontics. In addition to private practice, Dr. Mangini serves as Clinical Associate Professor in the Prosthodontics Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Mara Mangini grew up in Pittsburgh, and is happy to still call it her home. After receiving her BA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004 where she focused on Architecture and Environmental Studies, she returned to Pittsburgh to pursue additional courses in the sciences. She excelled in these courses, and was accepted into the honors society at the University of Pittsburgh where she completed her studies. Inspired by her mother, Dr. Kathryn Duncan Friedman, she attended The Unive...Read Morersity of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she met her husband, Dr. Nicholas Mangini, and received her DMD in 2011. Drawing upon her artist abilities, attention to detail, and desire to learn more, Dr. Mangini chose to continue her training and completed a three-year advanced training residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. There, she received extensive training in comprehensive restorative treatments including surgical and restorative implant therapy, full-mouth crown and bridge, and denture therapy. While in her residency, Dr. Mangini was honored to serve as an instructor to pre-doctoral students, and she continues as part-time faculty at the Pitt Dental School today as a Clinical Associate Professor. And of course, she is excited to work side-by-side with her mother, Dr. Kathryn Duncan Friedman, as a part of the Atlas Dental Specialists team! Dr. Mangini is committed to continue her education throughout her career and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American College of Prosthdontics, the Pennsylvania Prosthodontics Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Assocation, the Discovery Study Club, and she is an active member of the Pitt Dental Alumni Board. Dr. Kathryn Duncan Friedman is a 1978 graduate of Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery (SDOS) in New York City where she graduated near the top of her class. During this year she commuted back to NYC for a part time position teaching in the TMJ Clinic where she had done special elective as a senior in dental school. In 1980 she relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. She began to practice dentistry first as an associate in different downtown offices and then in her own private practice at this current location in the Park Building. She fell in love with the light, airy spaces and top floor views of the old historic building and especially with the great statues placed outside of every window! Dr. Duncan Friedman’s professional associations include past active membership in the American Dental Association and PA State Dental Associations, present and active memberships in Academy of General Dentistry and the highly respected Seattle and Discovery Study Clubs. Dr. Duncan Friedman is committed to continuing education and collegial interactive treatment planning which is the keystone of the Discovery Study Club. Her goal is to provide the highest quality of care for each of her patients. She loves to attend courses on her own or with her staff that promote innovative ideas and techniques and invigorate her whole office.
