Dr. Ertl has called North Carolina home since 1997. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a minor in Chemistry. His time spent ...Read Moreat Carolina taught him the importance of environmental stewardship, community service and how these elements affect a community’s overall health. Dr. Ertl went on to work within the dental research field at the Center for Oral and Systemic Diseases. He helped on investigations addressing connections between an individual’s oral health and their overall health. Some of the research projects examined links between periodontal disease (gum disease) and their association to cardiovascular disease (heart disease), a baby’s developmental challenges in an expecting mother, diabetes, stroke and drug delivery systems. From this job, Dr. Ertl gained a wealth of knowledge in how the latest medical and dental scientific knowledge can help keep his patients healthy for years to come. Dr. Ertl then applied his skills to the biotechnology field before attending dental school. There he aided in research with advancing the longevity of medical devices in a hospital setting, metabolic disorders associated with kidney stones, kidney failure, and cystic fibrosis. Upon graduating from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry he has served communities within North Carolina’s piedmont for a number of years. Dr. Ertl and his wife, DeLene, recently married in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina and now call Asheville home. They have two little boys: Haydn Søren Ertl and Lukas Torsten Ertl. Hannah is a native of Rutherford County, where she graduated from R.S. Central High School. After completing the Dental Hygiene program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Hannah earned an Associate’s in Applied Science, Dental Hygiene and became licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of North Carolina in 2012. Hannah’s sunny disposition makes patients feel at ease immediately. She loves all aspects of caring for her patients, and believes that the mouth is a window to the rest of the body. Latoya is a North Carolina native. She graduated from McDowell High School and then earned a diploma in dental assisting in 2000 from Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton. Adyla Yang was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in North Carolina.She is proud of her Hmong heritage; the Hmong are an ethnic minority found in southeast Asia. Gloria recently relocated from upstate South Carolina to be a part of the Laurelwood Family Dentistry team. She has more than 19 years of experience as a dental assistant and began her training through the dental clinic on Clark Air Base in the Philippines. DeLene followed Dr. Ertl to North Carolina from her home state of Florida in 2008, and they married in the Asheville area a few years later.
