Dr John Wasdin,DMD

“Dr. John” grew up in the small town of Screven, Georgia in Wayne County and graduated from Wayne County High School in 1991. After completing undergraduate training in only 3 years at Georgia Southern University he was accepted early into The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry (Now, Georgia Regents University, College of Dental Medicine). Dr. John was not only known for his academic achievements in school, but was also voted to receive the “Dolly Award” which is awarded to the senior dental student, by their fellow classmates, who best represents the attributes of Ms. Dolly Hearn a senior dental student who’s life was taken early in the summer of 1990 but whose legacy of professionalism, empathy and perseverance lives on. After completing his dental school training, Dr. John completed 2 years of post doctoral training in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry at The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry and The Children’s Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. John opened Statesboro Children’s Dental Center in the summer of 2000 and is currently on staff at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. John considers his Christian Faith, his family and caring for his patients as the most important things in his life. He is an active member of First Baptist Church Statesboro where he has taught children’s Sunday School for many years. He is married to Laura Wasdin who he loves working with at their office and raising their two beautiful children, Lyndsey and Jake. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and teaching High School math classes for seven years, Laura helped her husband, Dr. John, open Statesboro Children’s Dental Center in July, 2000. Alice was born and raised in Brunswick, GA and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1993. She attended both Brunswick College and Valdosta State University where she graduated with a degree in Sociology. Carmen has been a Pediatric Dental Assistant since 1993. She started out as a receptionist for a Pediatric Dentist on St. Simons Island and within a few months was offered the opportunity to train as a chair-side assistant. She worked on St. Simons for 11 years before relocating to Statesboro. She has worked with Dr. John for nine years. Meredith graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Medical College of Georgia in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.
