Plaque

Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that coats your teeth. After you eat, the bacteria release acid that attacks the tooth enamel. If you do not brush your teeth on a regular basis, the presence of plaque can lead to tooth decay. If plaque is not removed through brushing or flossing, it can harden into tartar, which can collect around the gum line. This can lead to gingivitis, which causes the gum tissue to become swollen and bleed.

Regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups can help get prevent the build of plaque.
