Adjust Complete Lower Denture - Dental Procedure Code Description

Even though folks with complete dentures no longer possess any teeth, the dental prosthetic worn in place of their natural teeth does need to be maintained. At times, it also needs to be readjusted for fit.

Regular visits to the dentist to best align and fit the denture to the variable ridges of the mouth is critical to comfort and stability.

There are several reasons for this, including:

  • A continual recession of the alveolar bone that used to house the teeth
  • Wear to the prosthetic itself
  • Irritation to the gum tissue caused by the denture
  • Slippage of the denture due to an improper or weakening fit

The determined frequency of visits for adjustments depends entirely on your needs, the materials used in your denture, and the advice of your dentist.
